This is the show from Monday, March 13th, 2023
SUMMARY:
* One of Eight "Women to Watch:" according to the Washingtonian, Ilana Goldman, president of Women's Campaign Forum, is one of the most powerful women in Washington. Ms. Goldman advocates the "right" to kill a fetus. Bob Enyart asked Ms. Goldman a number of questions which she did not answer including "What is a fetus?" and "Is the fetus living?" Ms. Goldman argued for a right to terminate it, but insisted on avoiding a discussion about what "it" is. Ms. Goldman indicated there should be a right to kill "it" because there are strong emotions on both sides, and because many people want to kill "it." Ilana did not agree when Bob said that whatever the truth is --whether "it" is a baby or not-- should take precedence over emotion and opinion. Bob Enyart said to Ilana, "Abortion is wrong because it's a baby, it's always wrong to intentionally kill a baby," to which Ilana said that we should respect one another's views, to which Bob asked, Well, isn't it relevant whether or not the fetus is a baby, a question Ilana objected to.

* One Interesting Ilana Goldman/Bob Enyart Exchange:
Bob Enyart - You're saying, "We realize some people think it's a baby and other people think it's not and we'd like both sides to respect one another." Well, the same argument was made with blacks and slavery. And people said, "Look, if you don't like slavery, don't own one." And so the question is not, "Do we respect one another?" The question is, "Is a black man a person? Is the Jew a person? Is the baby in the womb a person?" That's the question. Would you agree it's not that we should respect one another, it is what is the truth, what is the truth in this matter. That's what we should determine?
Ilana Goldman -[/b] No, I wouldn't agree. I don't think that's the right analogy.
[2 minutes and 55 seconds later...]
Bob -[/b] Earlier you said, "the truth really shouldn't prevail, it's our own opinion."
Ilana -[/b] No, that's not what I said and I don't want to have my words distorted.
Bob -[/b] Okay, we have it on tape. We could replay it.
* Abortion for Incest: When Bob presented the following to Ilana, she dismissed it: Abortion for incest is cruel. The abortion clinic covers up the crime of incest, and typically sends the victim back home to her rapist. Even worse, they often send her home with[/i] her rapist, the criminal who brought her to the clinic. Abortion for incest emboldens a criminal to rape his young relative, helps him escape being caught, tempts him to repeat his crime, and is not compassionate because it kills a baby and increases the woman's suffering. Personhood for the unborn helps people understand there are no hard cases when deciding to protect a baby. You don't kill a baby because her father is a criminal. Also, abortion clinics statewide refuse to comply with mandatory reporting laws for suspected child rape. The pro-life community brought audio taped evidence of that failure to Colorado's attorney general's office, and Republican John Suthers chooses to look the other way. Personhood will reduce crimes against women and children. Perhaps Ilana can post the above paragraph on her blog and respond.
Post-show Note: Bob Enyart is coming to Indiana, Goshen in the evening of Jan. 29th and Indianapolis on Saturday January 31st, to present a brand new BEL Seminar titled Hermeneutics: Tools for Studying the Bible. Learn how to use sixteen different tools of interpretation as you study the Bible. And as importantly, Bob will discuss the principles involved for prioritizing these hermeneutics. Varying interpretations may result depending upon which tools a student employs to understand a passage, such as the First Mention Principle, Typological Analysis, or the Historical/Grammatical Method. Believers should become experts in right and wrong, and being proficient at reading God's Word is an invaluable advantage. The seminar attendees will learn about the different hermeneutics and how to decide which tool to use in which instance. You'll love it!
