What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls

"President Trump closed the week with his highest favorability rating since mid-June of last year while the finger-pointing continues over the latest school massacre.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of Trump’s job performance. President Obama earned 45% approval on this date in the second year of his presidency.

Now that Gallup has quit the field, Rasmussen Reports is the only nationally recognized public opinion firm that still tracks President Trump's job approval ratings on a daily basis. If your organization is interested in a weekly or longer sponsorship of Rasmussen Reports' Daily Presidential Tracking Poll, please send e-mail to beth@rasmussenreports.com

The president’s plan to fix the nation’s ailing infrastructure calls for generating $1.5 trillion in upgrades through ventures involving the federal government, state government and private industry. Most voters like the idea of finding outside sources to help fund the infrastructure plan.

Just 33% of Americans rate the safety of roads, bridges, dams, tunnels and the like in the area where they live as good or excellent. But only slightly more (35%) are willing to pay anything extra in taxes each year to upgrade and improve America’s infrastructure

TRUMP BUMP: The President’s Approval POPS TO 50% as Economy Soars
https://www.hannity.com/media-room/trump-bump-the-presidents-approval-pops-to-50-as-economy-soars/

President Trump’s approval rating continues to rise following his well-received State of the Union address and the wildly popular GOP tax cuts; with new polls showing the Commander-in-Chief’s job performance rating rising to 50%.

The new data from Rasmussen Reports shows that 50% of likely American voters approve of the President’s performance; the highest levels seen since June of last year.

In contrast, former President Barack Obama enjoyed a 45% approval rating at the same time in his presidency.

The poll also shows 34% of Americans “strongly approve” of the President’s performance with 49% disapproving.

The strong results come after months of GOP successes and Democratic failures; with the Republican party passing significant tax cuts and liberal legislators taking the heat for a disastrous government shutdown over DACA.

The data also shows the President’s approval is largely tied to the US economic recovery; with Americans feeling the benefits of higher wages and yearly bonuses after Trump signed the sweeping tax overhaul into law.

Trump's numbers are down, again...

After a momentary upward blip in the polls (Was it the holidays? A lower presidential profile? A non-disastrous State of the Union? The tax bill hype?) voters have gone right back to disliking President Trump — a lot. The latest Quinnipiac poll has the president’s approval rating down to 37 percent (with 58 disapproving), compared to a 40-percent approval rating on Feb. 7. And by a margin of 67 percent to 24 percent, they want him to release his tax returns.

In a demonstration that tribal loyalty predominates over obvious observation, “Trump has not been loyal to his spouse throughout his marriage, American voters say 56-18 percent, with 26 percent undecided. Republicans are the only group to say Trump has been loyal.” Really, Republicans, you think that, or do you not permit yourself even a moment of honesty? “Voters also say 66-30 percent, including 58-37 percent among men, that Trump does not respect women as much as he respects men. Again, Republicans are the only group taking Trump’s side.” And once again, as a group, Republicans seem to have given up any powers of discernment.

Donald Trump is personally disliked by at least 61 percent of Americans, a new Quinnipiac Poll reveals.

As Second Nexus reports, the new poll, released Wednesday, spells bad news for the White House, on a number of fronts. For starters, the poll found troubling numbers across the board in terms of what Americans think of the state of Trump’s marriage to Melania. For more on that aspect of this poll, please see the Inquisitr’s report on the poll’s findings.

In other bad news for the Trump administration, the 45th president’s overall approval rating dropped to below 40 percent again. After a brief period of being above 40 percent, called the “State of the Union bump” by many observers, he has dropped back down to 37 percent approval rating.

But there is an even deeper divide between Donald Trump and the American voter, and it goes beyond whether they approve of his job as president. Specifically, at least 61 percent of Americans simply dislike Donald Trump as a person.

The reasons for that are varied, according to Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. Many Americans (67 percent) think he should release his taxes, while a smaller percentage of that number believe he won’t do so because he’s being audited by the IRS. Others are put off by his supposed disloyalty to Melania.

If nearly two-thirds of Americans think he's a creep, that's not necessarily a disaster for him. Bill Clinton was personally disliked by a majority of Americans, who nevertheless supported him because of the job he was doing.

But when a president is despised and regarded as doing a poor job, that's not a good thing for him at all.
