[Pope Announces Extraordinary Jubilee Year] "Pope Francis has announced a Jubilee Year that will be focused on mercy. During his unexpected announcement he said that "no one can be excluded from the mercy of God." It will begin on Dec. 8, the Feast of Mary's Immaculate Conception. Yet from the infallible, inerrant Scriptures we read: "He [God] has mercy on whomever he wills, and He hardens whomever he wills" (Rom. 9:18). Those who die without Christ, will also die without mercy, and can expect a "fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire" (Heb. 10:27). It is indeed tragic for Catholics to be deceived by a man who claims to be infallible in his teachings on faith and morals. I'll take the authoritative teachings of Christ's one historic Church (Mt. 28:18-20; Lk. 10:16; Ac. 16:4; 2 Thess. 3:4; 1 Tim. 3:15; 1 Jn. 4:6) over the subjective opinions of a militant schismatic like Mike Gendron any day. Nice try, though.

Yes, God's word authentically interpreted by Christ's one historic Catholic Church---and not misinterpreted by your chosen recently-invented, man-made non-Catholic sect---is the final word.

Roman Catholics reject the supreme authority of Scripture by elevating their tradition to the same level of authority.

Protestants reject the supreme authority of Scripture by elevating their personal interpretations of the Bible to the same level of authority as Scripture itself.

They defend their position by quoting St. Paul who wrote: "Stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us" (2 Thes. 2:15). But we must make a distinction between traditions which had already been taught by the apostles in the first century and the traditions established by men over the last 1900 years (2 Cor. 11:2 ; 2 Thes. 3:6)..."

The assumptions and opinions that you have derived from your chosen recently-invented, man-made non-Catholic sect are noted. In any case, Paul's statement includes the reality of future doctrinal Tradition as well, as does the rest of the New Testament.

There are thousands of Protestant denominations in the world that hold to the concept of "scripture alone," and yet they differ sharply with each other on essential doctrinal issues. They all claim sola scriptura, and yet they all have their own unique theological tradition, which they use to interpret the meaning of said scripture, and which conflicts with the traditional understandings of other Christians. They may claim "scripture alone" but they add their own unique traditional understandings along with it, which conflicts with the traditions of others who also believe in "scripture alone."
