The Scriptures many times defy reason and must be accepted despite being unreasonable/illogical.

For example, Calvinists believe that man has no ability to do good, yet is held responsible to doing evil. This is a paradox to human reasoning. Yet they propose that scripture doesn't necessarily have to line up with human reason. They suppose that God's system of logic is different than ours and that we cannot understand God's system of justice, but at the same time we must live under it and accept it.

I, on the other hand, cannot in good concience deny my own faculties of reason. To do so, would deny my own ability to understand anything. If I find scripture that seems to defy logic or fundamental laws of nature, I cannot accept the scripture and reject logic or vice versa, but must reevaluate either my interpretation of scripture or my comprehension of the basic laws of nature.

I'd like to get others thoughts on this subject.
