Petraeus, Adultery, and Legislating Morality

This is the show from Monday, November 12th, 2012.

SUMMARY:

* "You Can't Legislate Morality" said the Mindless Drone: Bob reviews why God forbids sexual immorality and what public policy should be regarding pornography, fornication, homosexuality, and adultery.

* Adultery is a Crime, and Not Just for Petraeous: Violating the UCMJ and the BTC, General David Petraeus resigned as director of the CIA. Bob discusses why liberals promote fornication, and he recommends for anyone struggling with immorality, especially for young men, his DVD Morality: Why God Forbids Sexual Immorality. Also recommended: Terry's Call: On Converting a Homosexual, and The Bible, Divorce, and Remarriage.

* Sexual Immorality Motivates Many Liberal Issues: Rather than have you killed, those in rebellion against God (including Satan) would much rather you destroy yourself, thereby willingly joining their ranks. For "he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." It turns out that promotion of sex outside of marriage motivates most of the issues that liberals are obsessed with, including welfare, abortion, over-population, no fault divorce, public education, and evolution. For example:

Liberal Issue

Significantly Motivated By

Abortion is sex without responsibility

Animal Rights

elevating animal rights denigrates human rights, making people seem like just animals, so they can act like animals.

Legalized Bestiality

because if anything goes, then anyone can do whatever they want. Sex with animals in the medical literature is responsible for syphilis, gonorrhea, and HIV. Normalization of bestiality is supported in the standard U.S. zoning code, and decriminalization is supported by evolutionist PZ Myers (whom Bob has sparred with) and even more aggressively, bizarrely, by Myers' daughter.

Environmentalism

because they wickedly claim that animals and bugs are as valuable as people, then they think that their behavior is justified by an appeal to animal behavior. Evolution says animals turned into men, but it actually turns men into animals.

Evolution

turns men and women into mere animals, who then think that they are justified in behaving like animals. Evolution says animals turned into men, but it actually turns men into animals.

Feminism

brings women down to the gutter to share in the sexual promiscuity of men

Homosexuality empties the cup of lust to its dregs. See kgov.com/homos

Kids Condoms

given to them by the godless public schools and abortion clinics, to promote sex without responsibility

Legalized Adultery

sex without conscience, without regard for others

Legalized Fornication

sex without concern for families, God, or children (who are often thereby conceived)

National Health Care

enables sex without responsibility through tax funded abortion & birth control

No Spanking

is like joint custody with the government, leading to kids who reject their parents' authority and even mock mom and dad

No-fault Divorce

adultery without consequences

Over-population

demands condoms be given to kids and mothers abort their children, trying to promote sex without responsibility

Legalized Pornography

trying to devise sex without responsibility

Legalized Prostitution

is sex without responsibility

Public Education

to officially promote a godless society which mocks God's decrees on sexual morality

Public housing

is sex without responsibility (taxes fund offspring shelter)

Question Authority

so that college professors, etc., can have sex with their co-eds

Same-sex Marriage

to throw off the teachings of Jesus Christ who said that God made us male and female from the beginning (not after billions of years) of creation, and that a man would leave his parent's house for his wife

Welfare

in significant part, the government pays to raise the children conceived by men having sex with unmarried women

Today's Resource: Why does God forbid sexual immorality? You'll want the men in your life, husband, brother, teenage sons or grandsons, to watch this important DVD, Morality: Why God Forbids Sexual Immorality. This is Bob's most heart-rending video, telling the sad part of the story of his own life. Learn about the effects of pornography on children, and how porn can pervade a young life, in school, at camp, and sometimes even in little league. And then learn about victory, and how a man can overcome the devastation of sexual immorality.

Petraeus's actions prove you can't legislate morality, so I don't understand what the debate is all about. "Passing a law" is fine for a busy-body moralizing self-righteous guilt-ridden legalist (is there any other kind?), and that's it. Doesn't change behavior at all.

There are costs (both monetary and sociatal) for every law that is passed. The lawyers and courts have developed the lax laws regarding the enforcement of marriage simple due to the fact that without no fault divorce, most women could not afford to pay the lawyers fees, as in most marriages, its the male that controls the money.

Our war on drugs, illegal immigration and a host of other issues is just not cost effective anymore.

Amen Pastor Bob. Yet way too many TOL'ers still fail to see the connection.

The Liberal philosophy is driven by selfishness and hedonism. I am not surprised that much of it revolves around satisfying certain 'primal' urges. Liberalism views Man as an animal and expects him to behave as such. An animal will mate with just about anything to satisfy its lusts.

This has nothing to do with anything here at all.

If by "legislate morality" he means create laws against behavior that is declared sin in God's law, then yes, one can legislate morality.

If by "legislate morality" he means force people to comply with the law, then no, one cannot legislate morality. That would be impossible.

That's one of the reasons why the civil magistrate exists:

"But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing."

Explaining away infidelity as a byproduct of American politics is asinine, inane, and ignorant. Unless people haven't been cheating until about the late 19th century.

What the former? Satanist is failing to recognize here is that immoral behavior hadn't been glamorized by our culture nor through our laws until the past few decades.

Yes, immorality can be punished if it's legislated.

Nevertheless, the wages of sin is death, yet that doesn't seem to stop people from sinning. In spite of the law and certain wrath of God so many people still sin, even those who self-identify as Christian. I think it's self evident that morality cannot be coerced.

We currently have a culture that encourages immoral behavior due to a change in laws and cultural mores that happened about 5 decades ago.

Can we "force" behavior on a culture that has grown up believing that abortion and sodomy are so-called "rights"?

While the law legislated by the civil magistrate (which is to "do good" in the eyes of God) would have a huge influence on society, if it were changed tomorrow to protect the innocent unborn and punish moral degenerates, it still wouldn't change cultural mores overnight.
