Petition text (copy and start in your US county if you live in one):
To further keep the state from 'establishing a religion' (1st Amendment), churches should be allowed to grant marriage licenses, not the state. A couple who wishes to be married should follow a churches beliefs and practices for that.
Therefore, (this) county will have no further authority for granting a marriage license.

There are obviously churches with a weak view of Scripture that will do SS marriages or already were. This petition can also put the discussion back onto what really needs to be clarified: What is a high view of Scripture? Did Christ have a high view of the early chapters of Genesis? Is gender a divinely-created distinction?
