The Brit's are now facing starvation on a level none of the Brit's on this site would admit ever happening. I'm not dancing a jig about being correct though because this planned shortage will soon hit the US too. It's just that understanding what is facing the world's population is necessary to protect/hedge one's self to keep ourselves above water. If you are not preparing yourself/family before the situation becomes dire the suffering is going to be intense. The world has never before faced anything like this.
I bought one bag of groceries Friday and that one bag was $54. I could never have imagined such a thing even 5 years ago, and we are being warned that supply chain issues are going to be getting much worse.
Just normal vehicle maintenance issues are going to hurt the supply chain a lot. My neighbor has a really nice Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel and had to take it in for minor engine repairs. That was weeks ago and the dealership cannot get the parts to repair it yet. Their first estimate for parts availability was 8 weeks for a head gasket which is a really common repair part. It's still at 8 weeks and the initial time estimate was 5 weeks ago.
Now imagine that type of scarcity of parts for a trucking company and how badly it will affect food availability. I've been told by people who know the industry that approximately 1 in 4 semis are now unavailable due to parts shortages on the west coast.

Panic buying is back! Shoppers fill up trolleys with toilet roll
Panic-buyers queued outside a Costco store in Manchester to stock up on goods including toilet roll as the ONS said one in six adults have been unable to buy essential food items in the last two weeks.
