The global Left has to have a plausible reason to even attempt confiscation, and that requires the Long Game. The only thing that will fit that bill is massive social unrest inflamed by the collapse of the various institutions and traditions that have made the U.S. what it is and keep the lights burning...industrial, economic, energy production, healthcare, education, stoking racial disparity, selective enforcement of existing laws, creation of laws by executive fiat, you name it, we have it NOW.
