It is costing the US billions of dollars. The refugees are given money monthly for the first three months, after that they are on their own. What is going to happen when the money runs out. Are all these refugees going to find jobs in Dearborn and Detroit? The American people are struggling in Michigan, so is it realistic to expect that the refugees will do better than the Americans in Michigan? from freep: More than 4 million Syrians have left their country in what is now the biggest refugee crisis since World War II. On Monday, President Barack Obama said the U.S. will increase the number of refugees “we admit to the U.S. to 100,000 per year for the next two years,” an increase from the 75,000 the U.S. took in this fiscal year. Many of those refugees are expected to be Syrians who could end up in Michigan, which has the highest concentration of Arab Americans in the U.S. from detroitnews:Refugees like Assad usually get three months of assistance that helps with shelter and food. After that, they’re on their own. Assad, who arrived in June, is concerned, as his assistance of $760 per month will end in October. He doesn’t speak English and was a house painter in Syria, doing odd jobs to support his wife, two sons and three daughters, ages 8-19. Presidential candidate and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is expected in Dearborn on Friday to meet with Arab refugees who recently resettled in the United States. Take that 200,000 and multiply it by 20!The gathering will take place during the Arab American Institute’s three-day National Leadership Conference, Oct. 23-25. The summit is held every four years ahead of the presidential election to provide a forum for candidates to address and hear from the Arab-American community.
