Netanyahu slams Trump

No less a right-winger that Bibi Netanyahu has criticized Donald Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the USA:

"Prime Minister Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump's recent remarks about Muslims," Netanyahu's office said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "The State of Israel respects all religions and strictly guarantees the rights of all its citizens. At the same time, Israel is fighting against militant Islam that targets Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and threatens the entire world."

In retaliation for Netanyahu's comments, Trump has canceled his planned visit to Israel.

I say that we should ask Bibi about Israel's immigration policy.

Israeli, despite being a liberal democratic country, is not an immigration country. Therefore, Israel does not have laws and regulations enabling foreigners who wish to come and settle Israel the opportunity to do so.

The laws relevant to entering and residing in Israel for different purposes are the Law of Entry to Israel -1952 and the Law of Return -1950. In addition, the Citizenship Law -1952 details possible options for becoming a citizen.

Based on the above laws, immigration to Israel is mainly possible per Aliyah process, a process available to Zakaey Shvut , persons eligible under The Law of Return with Jewish roots. Clause 4A(a) of the Law of Return states as follows:

“ The rights of a Jew under this law, and the rights of an Ole under the C itizenship Law -1952, and the rights of a Ole under any other law, are given to the child or grandchild of a Jew, the spouse of a Jew the spouse of a child and grandchild of a Jew; Except a person who was born Jewish and out of his free will converted his religion.”

Therefore, according to the Law of Return the right to live and settle in Israel is given to eligible persons per the law and definition above. Eligible persons per the law of Return may choose between a process for persons considering settlement which provides a B/1 Work Visa for several years, or a process which provides temporary residence while considering Aliyah, and also makes them eligible for social rights such as Health Care. In addition, the eligible person may choose to make Aliyah, whether with the help of the Jewish Agency abroad or individually at the Ministry of Interior offices in Israel. The Aliyah process includes presenting personal documents and proof of Jewish roots. In general, most Jews and Zakaey Shvut are eligible to make Aliyah and to receive Israeli citizenship.

Yes, immigration to Israel is restricted to "persons eligible under The Law of Return with Jewish roots." However, it is also true that "Muslims, who are mostly Arab citizens of Israel, constitute 17.4% of the Israeli population, making them the second largest religious group in Israel after Israeli Jews" (source).

I should have added in the OP that in retaliation for Netanyahu's comments, Trump has canceled his planned visit to Israel.

So the Muzzies that are in Israel entered prior to or around the time that the "Law of Entry to Israel" (1952) and the "Law of Return to Israel" (1950) were legislated?

Not sure how, but there they are.

Let's see if we can figure this out together:

1). No immigration to Israel unless you're of Jewish decent (per the above legislation).

2). Muslims (who to the best of my knowledge aren't of Jewish decent) live in Israel.

3). You do the math.

I'm guessing you think it's a tad hypocritical for the Bibster to condemn Trump's proposal to ban Muslim immigration to the USA when Israel enforces a strict immigration policy for itself, am I right?

Why do you suppose Bibi has taken this course of action?

The reason Jews would like to see more Muslims in America, is because it would increase problems. That in turn will cause more strife in America, thus creating a negative view of Islam, and less demands upon Israel.

Just a tad.

I won't spend time speculating. That being said: Maybe "The Donald" doesn't want the US to have the amount of Muslim terrorist acts that the Israeli's have:

I don't think Netanyahu is being hypocritical because Israel was founded specifically to be a national homeland for international Jewry. While Israel does not allow for Arab Muslim immigration, they also do not allow Mormons or Hindus to immigrate. So it is not a policy directed exclusively to one religious or ethnic group.

How is this slamming Trump?

"Prime Minister Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump's recent remarks about Muslims," Netanyahu's office said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

So no slam?

This is a slam. "Trump is wrong and needs to shut up". Or something similar he said about muslims like Obama and the terrorists he supports.

In response to Trump's proposal to ban Muslim travel to the USA, Dick Cheney stated: "This whole notion that somehow we can just say no more Muslims, just ban a whole religion, goes against everything we stand for and believe in."
