After safely passing the USS Fitzgerald, the cargo ship turned around and rammed the Fitzgerald in the side. It appears to have been deliberate.

Are governments testing the waters to see if America's war ships can be crippled by cargo ships?

The cargo ship made a u-turn and rammed the Fitzgerald.

The USS Fitzgerald will no longer be able to defend other ships from missile attacks launched from North Korea.

The cargo ship did not have its running lights or transponder turned on.

The cargo ship struck the most vital part of the Fitzgerald.

The container ship continued east for another half hour before reversing around 2:00 a.m. and returning to the scene. The Japanese Coast Guard and U.S. Navy initially said the collision happened at 2:20 a.m. because the ACX Crystal did not report it until 2:25 a.m.

Someone on the USS Fitzgerald said the collision took place sometime after 2:20 AM. I would not think it would take an hour to report the accident.
