The funeral is for the surviving family members and friends of the deceased. We get to experience the grief of missing someone that we thought would be there for years (at least that's how I felt about my late husband) to walk through life beside us.
And, although I believe that I will see my husband again, I miss having him here to talk to and having him here to physically hold on to.
I have to say that your view is one of the most insensitive views toward death and grief that I've ever seen.
