It is true, Jesus died for YOU, and everyone else who has ever been conceived, or will be.
In fact, all your sins were taken away once and for all at the cross 2000 years ago. God has reconciled you unto Himself, not counting your sins against you. The problem for you is not having your sins dealt with, but what it was that your sins caused, your death. You are dead (spiritually speaking) and you need life. Jesus came that you might have life.
However, we are not saved by His death, but by His life. Therefore, what you need is His life.
"For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."
Salvation is receiving His life. It is the Spirit that gives us life John 6:63. He who has the Son, has the Life. He who does not have the Son, does not have the Life 1 John 5:12.
