dotcom, the US has a history of helping out other countries when tragedies occur. I have mixed feelings about it, but I lean more towards the side that we should help in those extreme situations if we can. However, when you help someone financially, they are that much further ahead than they would have been without your help. It seems ridiculous that any amount we send them would inspire any comment other than gratitude. When you toss a coin into the Red Kettle at Christmas, does the person ringing the bell tell you it isn't enough and that you are being stingy? And the idea that the US is stingy is absolutely absurd! I don't know the figures, but we give away tons of money to other countries as well as send our military when they are needed.
