Jesus cited the keys of knowledge to be the entire breadth of the old testament scriptures - the Hebrew division - and not the Septuagint - easily proven here:
Luke 11:50 so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.' 52"Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering."…
From the blood of Abel (Genesis) to the blood of Zechariah killed between the stones in the temple (2 Chronicles) is the hebrew scriptures - their division of scriptures has 2 Chronicles as the last book, instead of Malachi. So we know clearly what Jesus spoke from and cited.
He was saying the entire breadth of the word of God and death of all the prophets would be charged against them from beginning to end.
Just sayin'
I appreciate your post, A4T. "Them" happened to be the descendants of Cain, Jesus' detractors, He was specifically referring to... that generation of vipers. Jesus also referred to the First Book of Moses in Matthew 24:36, 37, 38, 39. And, what exactly does the alleged, one historic Catholic Church teach about the days of Noah? As in what happened in Noah's tent (Genesis 9:22 KJV)? Leviticus 18:8 KJV, Leviticus 20:11 KJV, Deuteronomy 22:30 KJV, Deuteronomy 27:20 KJV... Just sayin' that's simple enough... been in the Books some 6 thousand years... longer than the historic Catholic Church has been around. Ain't hearin' enough to figure out who that generation of vipers was who instigated the crucifixion fulfilling Genesis 3:15 KJV.
Jesus' arrival generation was prophesied in Genesis 4:24 KJV... "seventy and sevenfold." Try counting in Luke 3:38 KJV from God is generation #1, Adam generation #2, Seth #3... Jesus is the "seventy and sevenfold" generation from Almighty God, inclusively. Sounds to me like Jesus was right in Matthew 18:20... affirming the 'name' of Jesus. All 77 unadulterated generations, thereof. Aren't we supposed to baptize in the 'name' of Jesus? There's an angle that escapes the historic Catholic Church... been on the books for some 6 thousand years.
Since the Catholic Church proclaims itself as "Christ's one historic Church", I suggest the truth began in Genesis... and, it appears Jesus did also... Just saying'
