Haiti & Home-School Hillbillies

This is the show from Wednesday January 13th, 2010.

BEST QUOTE OF THE SHOW:
Isn't parking lot and even tarp dwelling preferable to being on welfare, living on subsidized housing with only one parent and several half brothers and sisters and having gang-bangers as your neighbors all while attending an unsafe government school run by dues-paying teacher's union members who all rail against global warming? What's worse?

SUMMARY:

* Did the Haitians Get What They Deserved? In the wake of a powerful earthquake that leveled their capital city, many Christians and heathens alike ponder the question of why the tragedy occurred. Pat Robertson gave a pseudo history lesson, and he didn't do a completely horrible job, except for historical accuracy and that “pact with the Devil” stuff. Guest host Doug McBurney elaborates on the history of Haiti, the source of its troubles, and the means by which we can avoid a similar fate.

* Petition for Life Sunday: is being observed Sunday Jan 17th & Jan 24th. Petition drives in Colorado and Mississippi are getting close to having enough signatures to put personhood amendments on the ballot. “In every Personhood campaign, churches are the key,” explained Keith Mason, cofounder of Personhood USA. “This year, we are very excited that hundreds of churches around the country will be honoring the sanctity of life.”

* Home-Schoolers Unite! An article by Georgetown’s Robin West in the University of Maryland’s Philosophy and Public Policy Quarterly laments the poverty stricken state and virtual slavery in which home school women and children find themselves. Perhaps you can send Ms. West an e-mail with pictures of the open field you call home, your shack and shackles, or the tarp from under which you instruct your sizeable brood…

* HealthCare Wrangle: Charlie Rangel and Nan Pelosi feign worry about their socialist takeover America’s already overly-socialist healthcare system, and they’re concerned they may not finish the government’s destruction of what’s left of our free market. Is there any chance the takeover can be stopped?

* The Personhood Movement Has Exploded Into 40 States! So please help the state personhood efforts get the signatures they need to re-criminalize abortion! If you live in:

Colorado: could you help circulate the Personhood Colorado & Colorado RTL 2010 petition? If so, just click or call 303-753-9394.
California: please visit the CA Human Life Amendment site to get a petition and start collecting signature for the Lord and for the innocent child!
Any Other State: If you live in any other state, can you help to advance personhood via the 2010 ballot or in one of three different ways?

We all need your help!

Was the French insistence that the Hatian's pay for their own slavery after a successful slave revolt mentioned? How about the fact that the U.S. government controlled Haiti for nearly 20 years, dismantled the legacy French education system and replaced it with vocational training only because the racist U.S. governors thought that menial labor was all that Hatians were able to do. Or the fact that the US stopped economic growth entirely during this time by forcing Haiti to repay debts to both it and France.

Of course Haiti's attempts at self government have been mixed at best but western powers were "kicking them while they are down" for a very long time.

Did any of you Jesus-worshipping faithful actually put your money where your mouth is?

Yes. How about you? Are we now going to have everyone state the amount that they gave or what aid they have provided or the time they are going to be putting in actually traveling to Haiti to help support missionaries that have been there for years so that we can see who is the better person?

Is that how it works?

No, a simple post of your tax return will do just fine...
