JUNE 26th UPDATE & CORRECTION: Bob, along with most Christian leaders, was correct in expecting today's opinion today's ruling to strike down (effectively) the federal Defense of Marriage Act. And striking down the Proposition 8 ban on homosexual marriage, Chief Justice John Roberts, joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Antonin Scalia found a technicality with which to reverse California's statewide vote that affirmed marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Correction: Bob failed to update his statistic when he said that six and a half Justices were nominated by Republicans, wrongly carrying over that statistic from 2010 prior to Elena Kagan being confirmed, which reduced the Republican contingent on the current U.S. Supreme Court to five and a half. The half? Sonia Sotomayor was nominated to the Federal District Court by a Republican president and then, in a bipartisan way, promoted to the Supreme Court in a bipartisan move by Democratic president.
