God's nature is always giving. It was why we were created and why we exist. God exists as a Triune being because He is always "pouring Himself out" (Church Fathers). He created and redeems because He gives Himself. This is why God loves the sinner who has reached his fullest potential in hell. God always gives. God in self giving nature, knowing that man would fall had a plan of redemption before Creation ever took place. I believe that the verse in Revelation that was quoted is symbolic of the self giving nature of God.
Just as a note of encouragement, II Peter 1:4 says that God has provided all that is needed that we could become partakers of this very divine nature. This does not become God but we do become more like Him. The purpose of Christianity is that we give ourselves to Christ (Romans 12:1) and to others. This is the picture of God that Christ gave us. This is the argument of the early church fathers. Give yourself!!
