First the natural then the spiritual. The promise land in Deut. had 6 nations living there that had to be driven out by God. What you suppose that represents in the spiritual, the NT for the Christian that Jesus demonstrated followed by what Paul had to say?

Romans 10:9-10 spells out the two requirements to receive the gift of salvation.
Meeting those two requirements is righteous.

Not so! The Word became vulnerable human flesh. Ego, the Word laid aside the Divinity of Himself that a HUMAN, sinlessly born could be tempted and tried in all ways as Adam was. Adam failed the test given him. Jesus did not, to become the Author of our salvation. The power Jesus received was always in promise form. By His obedience was He rewarded with power. God foreknew Jesus from before the foundation of the world

He did in forty days what it took the Hebrews forty years to do. Think about what they didn't do and took forty years to get it right and how He did it while being left completely alone by God for such proving that could only be accomplished in such a way. Why not ask yourself the question: What was God after in all this? What is God now after from is new born Chrildren?
