Today, you hear a lot about sensitive men. Men who are in touch with their feminine side. Men who are soft.
What happened to the real men? Men like John Wayne, Charlton Heston, and Ronald Reagan. Did they all find some cave to hide in?
You know what I mean. Men who, while being polite to your mother, aren't afraid of your mother. Men who want to support their families. Men who will hold their wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters while they cry instead of insisting on their wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters have sympathy for them. Men who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, putting up a fence. Men who will awkwardly "sip the tea" when their daughters want to have a tea party.
They're hard to find anymore. Today's society has tried it's best to make these men ashamed of being men. We (society as a whole) have decided to take the strength from the real men and try to give it to women and their lackeys who will say anything to keep from offending them.
We've devalued life so much that abortion is now a common form of birth control. We've devalued family so much that it's rare to find families that include a husband, a wife, and kids. Marriage has become a joke. With the onset of no fault divorces, we've seen few marriages lasting more than five years. And, those that do last more than five years are looked at as oddities.
We've taken God out of the public arena, such as schools and courthouses. Christmas has become the "holiday season" or the "winter holidays." Easter has become spring break. We no longer hear kindergarten classes singing Away in a Manger. Why? Because it might offend a non-Christian.
And, we (Christians) have sit still and watched it all happen. We've allowed these things to happen because we don't want people to think we're fanatics. And, while we've sat there, watching as our world changes, we've become soft. We are now told that we have to tolerate perversity. We are told that we shouldn't tell people that there is only one way to God and that it's Jesus. We are not supposed to criticize other religions that don't lead to Christ. We're told that if we don't tolerate these changes, we're hateful bigoted people.
Well, why don't we think of what God would say to us about being tolerant of these things? I don't mean look it up in the Bible and see exactly what He said. If you're a Christian, you know exactly what He would say. Didn't He tell us that we're supposed to hate what is evil and hold onto what is good?
I want to see people start thinking for themselves again. I want people to stand up for what is right instead of what they think everyone expects of them. I want to see real men who aren't afraid that people will think they're neandertals. I want to see marriages lasting fifty years or more again.
Impossible? Maybe right now. But, if we turn back to God and His ways, these things will return.
