The last part of this scripture clarifies the first part. "That we should be holy and without blame before him in love" Jesus perfects our humanity by his doing and his dying. Colossians 2:10, says that we are complete in him. The only way that you can be holy and without blame before him in love is to be justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus, Romans 3:26. God must see us as perfect and complete in Christ before he sees us as holy and without blame before him in love.

Jesus is our new Father because we have been born again by the word of God, which is the Gospel, 1 Peter 1:23. We heard the Gospel, we believed the Gospel and we became children of God. There is no other way that anyone can become a child of God, you must be born again, John 3:5-8.

Jesus has acted in our name and on our behalf making us acceptable to God. That is the Gospel. When God accepted Jesus into heaven we were accepted in him. That is the Gospel.
