'Conjugal rights'

Do you believe this?

"The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband." 1 Corinthians 7:3

Why else would someone get married? Especially when scripture says that we should seek to stay single unless we cannot control our passions and burn.

Anyhow, its a two way street, if you married the right person, this would not be an issue.

There was a Catholic Priest talking about this years ago. His message was that withholding, and apathy in this destroys marraiges. He was on Nightline. Withholding sends a message of rejection, judgement. Where sex is meant to unify, to promote selfless love.

Sometimes medical issues prevent it all together.

This is probably generally right, but there are no absolute rules. Respecting your partner's desire NOT to engage in sex is just as important as respecting their desire TO engage in sex. The "rule" is about showing love and respect, not giving, taking, or withholding sexual pleasure.

Agreed it's not a legality to follow, just the way to promote selfless love and unity.

Of course, and in those situations the hope is that there is unity in Christ and Spiritual maturity that can carry them through that difficulty.

Why would you consider it a difficulty?

We are called to rejoice and endure to the end... If you truly love your spouse as Christ love the Church and would give up your life for them... this 'difficulty' is merely a walk in the park.

Agreed for someone mature in Christ.
