So I hate underestimating anyone, but I completely missed this on chrys' part.

First, I know by inference in an earlier remark that he noted another poster got in trouble after altering a quote with the "Fixed that for you" tag (though it's unclear if that long time practice where noted for sarcastic and satirical purposes is now off limits or if the particular poster in question had simply run the string on a series of non responsive posts and insults) and chrys saw an opportunity in my:

there he goes again bringing up what a conservative Court did that is still causing death and destruction?
Fixed that for you. Which, for those who might not understand it, means that the bold part is not set out as an actual part of the quote but in rebuttal to the words that were there in the original.

They stop killing babies from then to now?

Here's the clever part. First he asked me to do what he knows I'd be disinclined to do:

I am asking you very nice
to correct your quote of me

Then, hedging his bet to make my consideration less likely he follows with a thing meant to make it a point of admission if I were to accept it.
it is a very dishonest thing to do
No, it isn't. Changing your words without noting the change would be. Noting it and placing the change in bold is satire. No one reading it would think it was meant to portray what you wrote, though what I wrote in bold is absolutely true and could as easily be said in rebuttal, which remains the point.

But to be a better man than you've been at any point I just put it outside of the quote and made the point anyway. Because even the slimmest possibility of someone misunderstanding what I was doing, what you willfully did with a few of your remarks that weren't qualified is enough to move me off the practice.

I've inadvertently thwarted the effort at the end. Too bad/end of story? No, not quite. Because chrys has one more up his sleeve as he writes and places together, answering himself:

correct your misquote of me
thank you

Now that's clever. Because my leaving it as corrected (at that point) will be a de facto admission of his charge of misquoting/dishonesy attending bit. And, still not seeing it, I do the obvious and predictable thing and revert the altered bit to its original.

Now he complains.

Like I said, clever should be noted and this effort on his part merits his own award without a second place within eye line.

Impressive.

doth thou not protest too much?

thanks to me it is now okay to misquote at tol
I may be wrong
as bybee said
they are evaluating it
so
go ahead and misquote without fear of reprisal
even though
it is still a dishonest and immature thing to do
your friends have got your back

No, I dothn't. But it's like beauty or that enormous plank protruding from you, all in the eye.

What you're calling misquoting has long been a staple around here and is little more than sarcasm/satire. I'm generally heavy handed about making sure people understand that, always going beyond the "Fixed that for you" and noting by italics or bold precisely what I'm altering for effect.

And your report of AB was just a spiteful, small slap by you at something that didn't attempt to represent a point you made at all.

I may be wrong as bybee said they are evaluating it
I've asked on the point so as to clarify whether or not that, again, long practiced particular is out of play and it isn't. The poster on point had been disruptive on an unrelated and simply run out the string.

so go ahead and misquote without fear of reprisal even though it is still a dishonest and immature thing to do
Neither true nor particularly Swift of you, but unsurprising.

your friends have got your back
Your last line of defense, no matter what. You can't be wrong, only less popular and victimized.

misquoting is dishonest and immature
it is also fallacious
and
even clever for your non thinking friends

But you find lying about other anti-abortion advocates being baby killers as honest and mature?

how does anyone know that you are against abortion?

I support a party that says they are against abortion
I support a party that passes laws restricting abortion
I support a party that tried to defund planned parenthood
I support a party that gives us conservative judges that do not support abortion

is that enough?
