[With Trump & Putin set for first phone call, exclusive new poll finds 71% of Americans see Russia as “clear and present danger” to US & NATO | By Joel Rosenberg] "During the campaign, candidate Donald J. Trump rightly warned that America’s friends “are beginning to think they can’t depend on us” while “our rivals no longer respect us … [and] think they can get away with anything.”

In his inaugural speech, President Trump wisely vowed to “reinforce old alliances and form new ones” in light of current and emerging threats.

Trump is moving quickly to keep this promise. On Friday, he will welcome the first foreign leader to the White House: British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Among the topics the two plan to discuss: how to strengthen the “special relationship” between the U.S. and the U.K., and strengthen the NATO alliance amidst current and emerging threats. Among their most serious challenges will be dealing with the increasing aggressiveness of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Unfortunately, in the U.S., the subject of Putin has become the subject of bitter partisan wrangling, especially after allegations that Moscow tried to interfere in the American elections. But Russia should not be treated like a political wedge issue. The stakes are far too high, and Americans of both major parties are deeply concerned by the growing challenge posed by the Kremlin..." US official: Iran conducts another ballistic missile test

Iran conducted its first ballistic missile test under Donald Trump's presidency, in yet another apparent violation of a United Nations resolution, U.S. officials told Fox News on Monday.

The launch occurred Sunday at a well-known test site outside Semnan, about 140 miles east of Tehran, Fox News was first to learn.

TRUMP DEFENDS ORDER FOR VISA CRACKDOWN, REFUGEE HALT: 'WE CAN'T TAKE CHANCES'

The Khorramshahr medium-range ballistic missile flew 600 miles before exploding, in a failed test of a reentry vehicle, officials said. Iran defense minister Brigadier Gen. Hossein Dehqan said in September that Iran would start production of the missile.

U.N. resolution 2231 -- put in place days after the Iran nuclear deal was signed -- calls on the Islamic Republic not to conduct such tests. However, this is at least Iran's second such test since July. The resolution bars Iran from conducting ballistic missile tests for eight years and went into effect July 20, 2015.

i believe that qualifies as a WMD, according to UN definition

Last weekend, Putin and Trump had their first phone call since Trump's inauguration. It would have been in the evening for Putin. The following morning, at about 07:00, a new Russian offensive started in Ukraine.

What do you suppose they talked about?

The question remains as to why Trump continues to expend so much of his "political capital" in his support of an unpopular leader like Putin - and what is he getting in return!

The fact that Trump continues to "stonewall" on his tax returns and refuses to place his finances in a "blind trust" like every other president in modern times, brings possible conflicts of interest issues into question.

Given that it was widely rumored that J. Edgar Hoover kept his position as head of the FBI for successive Administrations by keeping personal files on a succession of American presidents, it would not be surprising that a former KGB officer like Vladimir Putin trained in the "black arts" was blackmailing Trump with a dossier filled with his past escapades!
